Meet the Artistic Director of The Kafka Project!

Vero Streltsova (she/they) is a theatre actor, performer and director. From 2021 to 2026 she worked closely with ProEnglish Theatre of Ukraine, led ProEnglish Drama School as a CEO, and was the President of WEST Association, where they united more than 80 theatre companies, organise international theatre collaborations and online networking meetings for theatre-makers around the world.
As an actor, she took part in such performances as Once Upon a Time in Ukraine and Human Wrongs, sharing the real stories of people who suffered from the injustices of the modern-day world. She collaborated with directors from Australia, the USA, the UK, Poland and Ukraine, working on stage readings War. Ukraine. Texts I-IV in 2022-2024.
Apart from that, in 2023 they took part in artistic residency START in Lesya Ukrainka National Theatre as a lead character in "Hamlet.Show", directed by Anabell Ramires, where they explored the themes of identity, negative impact of social media and relationships during the war.
In 2025, together with James Robertson they started the Kafka Project which became an independent production in January 2026. In the show they explore the themes of queerness, queer joy, the affect of prejudice and bureaucracy on everyday lives of ordinary people. They work closely with verbatim theatre, movement improvisation and collaborative approach.
As a director, they staged two short-form performances during the Director's Course, experimenting with untraditional theatre forms, physical and devised practices.
